How it works

Nobody keeps their driving instructor after they pass.

Coaching should work the same way. Every programme has an end date, agreed before you start, and each block your coach hands over a little more.

Who writes the programmeYour coachYou
Coach
Stage 1Coach writes

Your coach writes it.

Your coach writes your first programme and explains why every part of it is there. You learn the reasons, not just the routine.

Coach
You
Stage 2Together

You write it together.

You plan the next block side by side on a video call. Each time, you make more of the decisions.

Coach checks
You
Stage 3You write, coach checks

You write it. Your coach checks it.

Your final block is written by you. Your coach reads it, asks questions and suggests changes before you start.

You
Stage 4On your own

You’re on your own.

The programme ends on the date you agreed. You know how to train, eat and recover, and what to change when life does.

Every programme has an end date. There’s nothing to renew and nothing to cancel.

Your team

One coach who knows you. A whole collective behind them.

You choose one coach. They write your programme with you, answer your messages and get to know how you train.

When your goals need something outside their field, they bring in another member. A nutritionist might help with your diet while your coach handles your training.

You only pay the people you work with, and you’ll know what it costs before you agree.

Working with your coach

Train together in person. Keep in touch in between.

Your coach trains with you one to one in the gym. Between sessions, you message them on WhatsApp and talk face to face on video. If you live further away, it can all happen on video. Real people every time, built around a full-time job.

Training with RuthRuth, Helen, you
Quick one. Do I need a protein shake after evening sessions, or is dinner enough?19:42
Ruth · coachGood question. Helen’s our nutritionist, so I’ll let her answer. Adding her now.19:50

Helen · nutritionistHi Sam. If dinner’s within a couple of hours of training and has decent protein in it, you don’t need the shake.20:04
Send me photos of this week’s dinners and we’ll go through them on Thursday’s call.20:05
Will do. Thanks both.20:11

Every fortnight, Sam and Ruth go through the block he wrote himself.
SessionsOne to one, in a gym near you. Or all on video if you’re further away.
MessagesOn WhatsApp, with your coach and anyone they bring in.
CallsOn video, face to face, usually every week or two.
TimingEarly mornings, lunch breaks and evenings.
No app, no lock-in

Use what you already use. We don’t have an app.

Your coach writes your programme wherever suits you: the notes on your phone, a notebook in your gym bag, or an app you already know.

There’s nothing new to download and nothing to log in to. When your programme ends, it stays with you. Nothing gets switched off, because there’s nothing of ours to switch off.

Clients use Hevy, Strong, MyFitnessPal, Cronometer, Google Sheets and Apple Notes, as well as pen and paper. If you use something else, that’s fine too.

The money

Every penny goes to the people coaching you. Fledg takes nothing.

Fledg is not for profit. It takes no share of what you pay, and it never holds your data.

£0Fledg’s share of what you pay your coach.

You pay your coach directly.

Fees go from you to them. Fledg never handles client money.

Members keep 100%.

No commission, no platform fee, no cut. Each member sets their own prices.

Members pay once to join.

A one-time fee of £150 covers running costs and nothing else. We publish every item it pays for.

For coaches and specialists

Change people’s lives for good.

If you’re a qualified trainer, nutritionist, physiotherapist or other health and fitness specialist, this is work that lasts. Your clients finish fitter, healthier and happier, and they know how to stay that way.

Fledg is not for profit. Nobody makes money from the collective itself, and it never takes a cut of yours.

  • Keep 100% of what your clients pay you.
  • Set your own prices, hours and programme lengths.
  • Bring in other members when a client needs more than you.
Membership is by application

Not everyone who applies joins. As well as the right qualifications, members need to share the collective’s principles.

  1. 1Apply with your qualifications and a short note on how you coach.
  2. 2Talk it through with members of the collective on a video call, so you can both check it’s a good fit.
  3. 3If it is, pay the one-time joining fee of £150, which only covers running costs, and set up your profile. See where every penny goes.
